HP has refreshed its Chromebook 14 with improved battery life and a thinner body. The new Chromebook 14 sports the same 14-inch display but with an option for 1366×768 pixel HD resolution or 1920×1080 pixel full-HD resolution.
The new Chromebook 14 is powered with an Intel Celeron N2840 processor as compared to the last year’s model that was powered by Nvidia Tegra K1 and will come with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of eMMC storage. It also has complimentary 100 GB of Google Drive cloud storage for two years, giving customers plenty of space to store, share and collaborate on documents with Google Apps. In addition, the customers will receive three free Google Play movie rentals and 90 days of free Google Play music. The Chromebook 14 comes with one USB 3.0 port, two USB 2.0 ports, HDMI and a micro SD card reader. In case of the improved batter life, it is said to last up to 9 hours and 15 minutes in comparison to 8 hours and 15 min on last year’s Chromebook 14.
The HP Chromebook 14 supports a HP Sleep and Charge port via a USB 3.0 port for charging devices on the go. The latest Chromebook 14 starts at 3.94 pounds and is 17.8 millimeters thin. HP has also announced a version of the notebook for small medium business (SMB) and educational customers, called the Chromebook 14 G4 (starting at $279). The notebook will support enhanced virtualization and VPN connectivity. The G4 version of the Chromebook 14 also comes with a larger storage option (up to 32GB of eMMC storage).
The HP Chromebook 14 is Turbo Silver and Sky Blue and starts at $249.99 while the Full HD HP Chromebook 14 starts $279.99. They will be available in the US at select retailers on November 8, 2015.
