Apple released iOS 9.1 update for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch earlier this week that added over 184 new emoji characters with full support for Unicode 7.0 and 8.0 emojis. iOS also became the first operating system to include every single emoji in the Unicode Standard. Google didn’t include new emojis in the latest Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) update.
Google’s new SVP of Android, Chrome OS and Chromecast, Hiroshi Lockheimer took Twitter to say that Google is working on bringing new emojis to Android, which is a direct response to a Reddit Thread. Some of these new emojis include, volleyball, taco, middle finger, champagne bottle, as well as new faces for sickness, thinking, and rolling eyes.

Google’s new SVP of Android did not say when we can see these new emojis on Android devices, but it might arrive before Android 7.0 or any other major update. Even if it release a new update adding these emojis, it will take months for other OEMs to push the update for their devices.
