Facebook improves notifications on mobile apps, makes them more personal

Facebook has revamped Notifications tab on its mobile apps in order to make them more personal. The latest update replaces the notification tab with Google Now-style cards.

Now users will be able to customize the type of notifications they want to receive. The update will offer you notifications related to birthdays, events, movies and other topics based on your preferences and previous activity. You will now get updates about sports scores and TV reminders, based on Pages you have liked in card style format. In addition, Facebook now enables you to customize the notifications with information you want based on your location, such as local news, weather updates about current conditions and alerts, movies playing in theaters near you and nearby restaurants you might like and so on.

Moreover, the update brings card notifications for Facebook Trending news stories that were kind of getting lost in all the cluster of notifications. Facebook says that the latest update will not change your current notification settings and they can be controlled anytime. You can also customize the info you see by tapping the arrow to the right of each card, or Add More Cards at the bottom of the tab. The new personalized notification tab will be gradually rolling out to all Android and iPhone users in the U.S
