Flipkart has joined hands with smartphone retailer Spice Hotspot to showcase its smartphone portfolio in retail stores across India. Under the partnership, the duo will set up exclusive experience zones with live demo phones on display.
Flipkart is calling this as ‘assisted e-commerce model’ as store staff will assist them to place their order on the Flipkart app and customers can take the delivery of the phones at the store or at their home. Both the companies will set up exclusive experience zones in these stores with live demo smartphones on display and sale to customers. At present, the Flipkart experience centres are available inside 30 outlets, across 19 cities, of the mobile retail chain Spice Hotspot. The latest move by Flipkart and Spice Retail is aimed at tapping the vast and not-so-tech-savvy consumer base of India.
“This is targeted mainly at places where online shopping is still catching up. Customers in Tier-3 and Tier-4 towns have heard about online shopping but are still circumspect. This initiative will empower and ease customers from smaller cities to shop online,”
said Sandeep Karwa, Flipkart retail director, in a statement.
