Design and build

The CATZ PBCZ4-13000 Power Bank has soft matte finish that offers a good feel for holding and is also not prone to smudges. It has four LED indicators on the front that glow in Blue color. These indicators show the remaining battery left when you are using it, and the remaining battery that needs to be charged when it is charging. These are bright and don’t turn off when you are charging devices using it, so it might be a disturbance in night when you are sleeping.

The power bank measures 155x62x23mm, making it a bit huge for a 13000mAh power bank, compared to some of the power banks such as Mi 16000mAh power bank. It weighs 294 grams, which is decent.

There is a small function button on the right side. Pressing the button indicates the remaining charge left using the LED indicators. When four lights are on 75 to 100% charge is left, when three lights are on 50 to 75% charge is left, when two lights are on 25 to 50% charge is left and when only one light is on 0 to 25% charge is left. When only the flight light blinks you need to charge the power bank immediately. The power bank also has rubber grip on the sides with dotted patterns offering a strong grip so that it doesn’t slip out of your hands. It also has a micro USB slot next to the button which takes in 5V/2A input.

It has a curved design on the top and the bottom. As you can see, the input and output values are mentioned on the bottom.

On the top there are two USB slots, the first one offers 5V/1A output and the second one offers 5V/2.1A output. There is also a LED light present next to these USB slots.

The LED light offers different levels of brightness. You can press the function button on the side twice to turn on the LED light. The first mode offers the highest level of brightness. If you feel that the light is too bright, you can press the button again for a medium high mode and if you still feel it is too bright, you can press it again to enable medium low mode. You can also press it again for flashing mode or strobe mode. You can press the button twice anytime to turn the light off.

Performance

The 13000mAh power bank can charge even an iPad since it offers 2A output. It also automatically recognizes the device you plug and offers ample amount of power required. Power lost during voltage conversion is a common problem in power banks. CATZ doesn’t reveal the charging conversion rate for the power bank. We were able to charge the Moto G 3rd Gen’s 2470mAh battery fully, ZenPad’s 3450mAh battery fully and Apple iPad Air’s 7340mAh battery more than 60% on a single charge, so the conversion rate should be somewhere between 75 to 85%. The power bank doesn’t get heated even after hours of usage. It also comes pre-charged out of the box, so you can use the power bank immediately.

CATZ says that it take about 5 to 6 hours to charge the power bank fully using a 5V/2A charger. We managed to charge it in 5 and half hours using a 5V/2A charger, which is good for a power bank that has a huge battery.

Conclusion

Priced at Rs. 2999, the CATZ 13000mAh Power Bank is a bit high compared to other 1300mAh or 16000mAh power banks available in the market, but it has a built-in LED flash light that you rarely find in a power bank in the price range. It also has a durable body and lets you charge two devices at a time. It is available offline and is also available online from Amazon.in in Black and White colors.

Pros

  • Solid build quality
  • 1A and 2A USB ports for charging two devices at a time
  • Built-in LED flash light with different levels of brightness

Cons

  • Bit bulky for a 13000mAh power bank
