LG introduced the company’s new flagship V10 smartphone in the V series last month. It went on sale in Korea early October and started rolling out globally from the United States, China and Hong Kong last week. The international version of the V10 was not on sale in Hong Kong, but we managed to pick a Korean version of the V10 (LG-F600L) for LG U+ for about HK$ 4100, which coverts to about Rs. 35,000. The LG V10 has a 5.7-inch (2560 x 1440 pixels) Quad HD Quantum display along with a small second 2.1-inch (160 x 1040 pixels) screen on top that shows information like weather, time, date and battery icon when the main display is off. It also offers notifications discreetly without blocking the view of the main screen, and you can even place shortcuts of your favorite apps to launch them quickly. The phone has dual 5-megapixel front-facing camera cameras that has two separate lenses to capture standard 80 degree selfies or wide-angle selfies of 120 degrees.
It is powered by a 1.8 GHz hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor and runs on Android 5.1.1 (Lollipop) with LG UX, similar to the LG G4, but this packs 4GB of RAM, compared to 3GB on the G4. It has soft Dura Skin on the bottom and the back. LG says that it will offer protection from direct impacts. The back cover is removable, and there is a 3000mAh removable battery under the cover. It has 64GB of internal storage, which is expandable with microSD. The phone also supports Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 2.0 and comes bundled with a quick charger that lets you charge the phone up to 50% in just 40 minutes.
It has a 16-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, OIS 2.0, f/1.8 aperture, Laser auto focus, 4K video recording and manual mode for video to adjust several options while recording. It also has a fingerprint sensor built into the power button.
The phone is 8.6mm thick and has SAE grade 316L stainless steel frame for maximum durability. The phone even meets the US Military Standard MIL-STD 810G to withstand a fall of up to 1.2 meters.
It also has an infrared sensor on the top along with a secondary microphone. The phone has 4G LTE connectivity, including LTE-A and NFC, similar to the G4.
The 3.5mm audio jack, micro USB slot, primary microphone and the loudspeaker grill are packed on the bottom. LG recently said that it will roll out the V10 in North America, Europe, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and the Commonwealth of Independent States throughout Q4 2015. Hope we can expect it to launch in India soon.
