WhatsApp has added new Starred messages feature in the latest beta version of the Android app. This lets you star a message, which is similar to bookmarking, so that you can find it easily later. To star a message, you need to tap and hold on a message in a chat. This feature was released for iPhone last month. This was first reported by Android Police on Tuesday.
WhatsApp introduced app-wide search for the Android app back in June, but starring a messaging is an easy way to find it, instead of searching through thousands of messages. All the starred messages can be accessed from the menu, under the WhatsApp web. It also shows you the group name if you have starred a message from a group.
WhatsApp Starred messages feature for Android is not available in the stable version of the app on Google Play yet, but you can download the APK of the beta version (v2.12.339) from the WhatsApp website and side-load it on your Android smartphone to check out the new feature.
