Facebook officially launches Notify app for iPhone

Facebook has officially launched a new app called Notify that will send you push notifications about news, entertainment, sports, weather and so on.

The Notify app lets you know about the news in real time. You will have to select different stations like Business, Culture, Entertainment, Gaming etc, from which you want to receive updates. Notify also provides station suggestions based on your Facebook profile and it’s easy to discover and add new stations any time. When you swipe to right or tap a Notify notification, a browser within the app will open up a webpage with more information. The app will send you notifications throughout the day as new information becomes available. You can open them to read the full post or save it later if you don’t have time and also share it with other through social media.

Facebook says that you can discover all the notifications you have received from Notify in the last 24 hours via a convenient in-app feed so you can easily stay up to date.  Facebook has more than 70 media partners for Notify including Vogue, Mashable, CNN and the Washington Post. CBS, Comedy Central and Billboard. The Notify app is the social network’s answer to Twitter’s recently introduced Moments feature that curates news and live events. Facebook has already teamed up with nine news publishers to launch “Instant Articles” that publishes their content directly to the social network’s mobile news feeds.The Notify app is currently available only for iPhone users in the US and there is no word about an Android launch.
