Facebook had debuted their Instant Article feature for iOS devices in USA and parts of Europe. The feature is now available to users in India on their Android devices starting from today.
Using the feature, users will be able to read quality content from well known publishers much faster and easier since they will be able to do so without having to leave the app. Andy Mitchell, Facebook’s director of news and global media partnerships said:
“We at Facebook are really excited to be rolling out Instant Articles in India on Monday. We are working with a publisher ecosystem that is varied and we are excited to see how this product will resonate with Facebook users and publishers in India,”
As of now, users will have access to content from 5 well known publishers in India such as India Today, Hindustan Times, The Indian Express, Aaj Tak and The Quint. Facebook plans to add more publishers to the list once it studies the content consumption patterns of users. The feature will show up directly on your news feed and it doesn’t require an app update as it is something that will be done from Facebook’s end.
