HTC on Wednesday announced and showcased its iPhone 6/6s-lookalike HTC One A9 in India alongside the all new mid-range HTC Desire 828 Dual SIM smartphone. While the official pricing isn’t yet disclosed, we think that HTC will not price it beyond Rs. 30,000. The phone will be made available in next two weeks, said HTC at an event in New Delhi.
The smartphone was unveiled last month, and it instantly grabbed everyone’s attention because of the iPhone-like design. In our opinion, the HTC One A9 is by far the best true-copy of the iPhone 6 or 6S. To remind you, HTC is not the only company that got inspired from Apple’s iPhone design, there have been companies like ZTE, Micromax, Spice and more – that launched smartphones of this kind.
Upfront, the HTC One A9 packs a 5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) display, and features a multi-directional fingerprint sensor on the physical home button.
The handset is backed by Qualcomm’s latest octa-core (4 x 1.5GHz + 4 x 1.2GHz) Snapdragon 617 processor coupled with 3GB of RAM. The 32GB internal storage can be expanded up to 2TB via microSD card. It runs on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) with HTC Sense 7 UI on top.
The One A9 has a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, phase-detection auto-focus (PDAF), Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), RAW image capture and an Ultrapixel front-facing camera. We only spent some time with the device, so it is not possible to pass a judgment on the camera performance. But just to give an idea, the rear camera appeared impressive in the few shots we took at the event.
The HTC One A9 is a single-SIM (Nano-SIM) smartphone that supports both the 4G LTE bands (Band 3 and Band 40) in India. The smartphone comes in Carbon Gray, Opal Silver, Topaz Gold and Deep Garnet colours. It weighs 143 grams and measures 145.75 x 70.8 x 7.26mm. The 2150mAh battery supports Quick Charge 2.0 out-of-the-box and it is forward compatible with Quick Charge 3.0 Standard as well. Unfortunately, HTC will not be bundling a quick charger in the retail unit, but company assured that the charger in the box will provide satisfactory performance.
