I would like to star my fonearena quest by reviewing a very useful software that you can use to turn your mobile internet to a Wifi hotspot and use it on your laptop. I have been using JoikuSpot Light for sometime now an i will now review it for you about the basic functionality of the software and how to set it up and get going. The software has a basic aim to make you Wi-fi enabled handset as a router. Things you need before starting is a Wi-fi cell phone, a 3G, EDGE or GPRS connection and the JoikuSpot Light software which can be downloaded by Clicking Here>> The Software promises to turn your Nokia phones to a WLAN HotSpot. JoikuSpot software is installed directly to the phone. When switched on, laptops and iPods can establish instant, secure and fast WLAN connection via smartphone’s JoikuSpot HotSpot using phone’s own 3G internet connection.
After you finish the installation run the software from your device. Check for the icon as shown above. The GUI is not very friendly to a newbie and requires a little work around with the software here and there. It asks you to choose an access point. Select the JoikuSpot access point here as shown above.
Next the software asks you to select the internet service provider of your mobile and you should select accordingly. I here selected the Airtel EDGE enabled GRPS (this may vary to user location and mobile service provider: if you have 3G then use it). This is all what you need to do and now you can sit back and use your own HotSpot on your laptop. Following are the Snap shots taken from the laptop while connecting to the Joiku Hotspot.
The software is really good and supports WEP encryption too. So if you want to carry your wireless internet with you on the go then this is a brilliant software for you. No need to purchase any HotSpot cards at Starbucks.
The only drawback of this software is that that it reduces the battery life of your device considerably. Also it did not work well in the earlier phone models which only have 20 Mb internal memory like the N91 and counterparts.
