Microsoft Mercury image surfaces – Cancelled Windows tablet

Apparently, along with acquiring Nokia, Microsoft also cancelled several devices that were under development. One such device, the Mercury tablet has now surfaced in a new leak.

The cancelled tablet would’ve run on Windows 8.1 or newer and had a design that is very much similar to the Lumia phones of past. It does resemble a phablet quite a bit in terms of design and even packs a SIM card slot which means that it would’ve been 3G or LTE capable or at least had a non-WiFi only variant.

The front is dominated largely by the display whose size remains unknown. The bezels look quite small and you can also see a front facing camera. At the back, you have a large camera module that is centered along with a Microsoft logo. No other details regarding the device are available and we aren’t sure if Microsoft is working on a new tablet or dropped the idea altogether but this device seems like a good platform to build on.
