Uber rolls out ‘Ride Request Button’ to integrate with other apps

Uber has launched a new ‘Ride Request Button’ that will allow developers to add in their apps. The buttons is actually a code and associated software development kit that iOS and Android app developers can use to add Uber support to their offerings.

The button will appear next to addresses in third-party apps that users can tap to instantly get a ride. To add the button to your app you will have to register your App on the Uber Developer Dashboard and install the new Uber iOS or Android Rides SDK. At the end you can configure and display the Ride Request Button next to every address or ‘intent to ride’ in your app. Developers can even optimize by specifying info about the trip such as pickup location, destination, product and more. After following all the steps, existing users will be deep-linked into a user’s Uber app account with the ride pre-configured. In case of new users, they will be directed to download the app from the App store.

Uber said that if you are a US based developer you can sign up for the companies Affiliate program and earn money for every new US based rider you sign up with the help of the button integration. The taxi hailing service company said that the Ride Request Button will get smarter, richer and more useful over time. Uber is facing a tough competition from China’s Didi Kuaidi and the latest move suggests its efforts to expand dominance globally.
