Apple has increased the limit on the number of tracks that can be uploaded to iTunes Match. The limit for Apple Music and iTunes Match has been raised from 25,000 tracks to 100,000.
In June, executive Eddy Cue promised the company would increase the size of the library from 25,000 to 100,000 with iOS 9. He had told MacRumors that it would arrive before the end of the year and the publication has now confirmed that Apple has finally “started rolling out support for 100K libraries” for iTunes Match and Apple Music.
iTunes Match works by scanning a user’s local music library and making the tracks available across all devices, for $24.99/year. Apple Music subscribers who pay $9.99/month will also get access to the 100k libraries. The latest move offers double the cloud storage of Google Play Music of 50,000 songs that it provides for free. With increasing competition in the music streaming space, Apple has been expanding its offerings for Apple Music.
