YouTube gets new Trending Tab that shows viral videos

YouTube has updated its web and mobile app on Android with a new Trending Tab that shows videos people are watching, discussing, and sharing the most on a day.

YouTube said the Trending tab is not personalized based on the type of videos you like to watch. The Trending tab is accompanied with a logo of burning flame and is now present next to the Home tab on the Android app. In case of the web app, the new tab will be seen after Home and My Subscriptions. YouTube has also included a feature which will help users find trending videos across a genre that includes topics like Music, Gaming and News. This particular feature is present on the Android app. It must be noted that the videos showcased in the Trending tab will vary from country to country.

In addition to Trending tabs, YouTube has also added two minor updates to the mobile app. First one is a ‘Ready to watch’ button that will be seen when the entire video is buffered while the second UI feature will show you the buffer progress of a video below the play button. It will show the total size of the video and how much of it is buffered.

Finally, as we are nearing the end of 2015, YouTube has released a Rewind Video that was created with the help of over 150 YouTube creators from all over the world to relive the best moments of 2015. Check it out here.
