This week, Motorola – as expected – launched its newer variant of the Moto G (3rd Gen.) in India, dubbed the Moto G Turbo Edition priced at Rs. 14,499. The phone essentially boasts of the same design as 2015 Moto G, but with fewer upgrades.
The Moto G Turbo Edition is powered by an Octa-Core Snapdragon 615 processor instead of Snapdragon 410 SoC. It has Turbo charging capabilities that lets you use the phone for up to 6 hours with just 15 minutes of charging using the bundled 15W Turbo charger.
Other specifications are same as the Moto G (3rd Gen.) – such as – a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, runs on Android 5.1.1 (Lollipop), has a 13-megapixel rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, 1080p video recording, 5-megapixel front-facing camera, dual SIM support and 4G LTE connectivity. It also has IP67 rating for water resistance that can withstand immersion in 3 feet fresh water for 30 minutes.

Apple this week introduced its first Smart Battery Case for the iPhone 6s.It has a 1877mAh batteryand promises increased talk time up to 25 hours, Internet use up to 18 hours on LTE, and video playback of up to 20 hours when using the case. The case will also show intelligent battery status on the iPhone Lock screen and in Notification Center, so you know exactly how much charge you have left.
It is priced at $99 (approximately Rs. 6600) and is available from the Apple Online Store in the U.S.
The firm also introduced a Lightning to SD Card Reader. It allows users’ to easily download photos and videos from their digital camera to your iPad or iPhone. Apple notes that the Lightning to SD card reader supports data transfer at up to USB 3 speeds on iPad Pro. The new updated adapter also works for iPhone 5 and newer, as well as the third-generation iPad and newer.
The new Lightning to SD Card Camera Reader costs $29 and is available from the Apple Online Store in the U.S.
Oppo introduced the R7 Plus smartphone back in May, and the smartphone was launched in India for Rs. 29,990 in India in September. This week, company announced a new high-end version of the R7 Plus with 4GB of RAM and a 64GB of internal storage, compared to 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage in the standard version. Other specifications are same as the original.
The Oppo R7 Plus high-end version comes in Golden colors and is priced at 2999 Yuan ($483 / Rs. 30,810 approx.) for the China Unicom variant and 3299 Yuan ($483 / Rs. 30,810 approx.) for the International variant.
Micromax Canvas Mega E353 went on sale online last month, but company officially launched the smartphone this week along with the Canvas Mega 4G Q417. Both the smartphones feature 5.5-inch HD display, a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, runs on Android 5.1 (Lollipop) and have dual-SIM support.
The Canvas Mega E353 is powered by an octa-core MediaTek MT6592M processor and has 1GB RAM, while the Canvas Mega 4G is powered a quad-core MediaTek MT6735 processor and packs 3GB of RAM.
The Micromax Canvas Mega E353 comes in Blue color and is priced at Rs. 7,999. The Canvas Mega 4G Q417 comes in Golden color and is priced at Rs. 10,999.
In November when HTC announced the One A9 and Desire 828 Dual Sim smartphones in India, company said that the phones will be made available in mid-December. So this week, HTC announced the availability and pricing for both smartphones.
The HTC One A9 comes in Carbon Gray and Pearl Silver colors in India and is priced at Rs. 29,990. It will be available for pre-order through Snapdeal and will be available from December 15th. Intex launched one more 4G smartphone in its portfolio dubbed the Intel Cloud Flash for Rs. 9,999. It has a 5-inch HD Super AMOLED display, is powered by 1.3 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6735 64-bit processor and runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop. It has a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. It has Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection on the front and the back.
Gionee introduced P5W, the company’s latest budget smartphone. It packs a 5-inch HD display, is powered by a quad-core MediaTek MT6735 and runs on Android 5.1 (Lollipop). It has a 5-megapixel auto focus rear camera with LED flash and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. It has dual SIM support and 3G connectivity. It comes in a range of colors with a matching UI.
The Gionee P5W comes in White, Blue, Red,Yellow and Black colors and will go on sale soon. According to Zauba listing the smartphone has been imported to India for Rs. 6,352 last month, so we can expect the India launch soon.
Amazon introduced its new Fire HD 8 Reader’s Edition tablet which is an 8 inch version of the Fire tablet and is aimed especially at readers. The new Reader’s Edition also includes Blue Shade feature that adjusts and optimizes the display on your Fire HD 8 tablet to reduce blue light exposure before bedtime.
Amazon says that Blue Shade uses specialized filters to limit exposure to blue light and also offers warm color filters and the ability to lower the display brightness to an ultra-low level for comfortable night time reading. Amazon’s Reader’s Edition comes with 1 year of Kindle Unlimited (worth $120) and ships with a rustic leather case. The device is available for order at $249.99.
Lastly, Genius launched two new Bluetooth 4.0 headsets – the Genius HS-940 BT and HS- 930 BT. Company claims that both headsets offer rich audio quality and bass performance. The HS-940 BT is a sleek headset with swivel earcups and quickly pairs with any Bluetooth device. It work at a 30 metre wireless distance and lets you listen to music on the go.The HS -930 BT promises to deliver an impressive sound quality and base effect with a 40 mm Neodinium drivers. It features a built in microphone and a single button to answer incoming calls.
The HS-940 BT is available in iron grey color for Rs 3,250 while the HS -930 BT comes in Black, White and Red color optionn and is priced at Rs 2,925.
