Qualcomm had announced the Snapdragon Flight a development platform to build the future of consumer robots and drones in September this year. Today, the company has teased the Snapdragon Flight drone in a short video.
The one minute 20 seconds video shows the Snapdragon Flight in action and offers a sneek peek at some of its features. The video suggests that the drone uses built-in-sensors that offer 3D mapping. It features 4K video, autonomous flight, optical flow camera and stereo camera. The Snapdragon Flight smart drone also comes with capabilities to motion planning and obstacle mapping. In case of the specifications, the smart drone comes equipped with a Snapdragon 801 SoC, featuring a 2.26GHz quad-core CPU, Adreno 330 GPU, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, and a Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receiver.
Key specifications of Snapdragon Flight
- 4K Video – 4K high resolution camera support, image enhancement and video processing capabilities and simultaneous 720p encoding for first person view
- Advanced Communication and Navigation – Dual-band 2×2 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, and 5 Hz GNSS location capabilities with advanced real-time flight control on Hexagon DSP
- Robust Camera and Sensor Support – 4K stereo VGA, optic flow cameras, inertial measurement unit (IMU), barometer sensor support and ports for additional sensors
