Samsung introduced the Gear S2 series back in September last year at the IFA. Couple of weeks after the announcement there were reports that Samsung will be bringing iPhone support for the Smartwatch. Today at its CES 2016 event Samsung VP Alana Cotton announced that Gear S2 will support the iPhone later this year.
Samsung Gear S2 is the company’s first Tizen-based smartwatch that works with all other Android smartphones running Android 4.4 (KitKat) and above, having at least 1.5GB of RAM, apart from Samsung Galaxy smartphones. Android Wear got iOS support few months back, but the features that work with iPhone are limited, which will likely be the case for the Gear S2 as well.
Samsung did not say the exact time frame regarding the iPhone support for Gear S2, hope we don’t have to wait till the end of the year. Samsung also introduced Gear S2 Classic 18K Rose Gold and Platinum editions at its event.
