Amazon eyeing to team up with Android OEMs to integrate its services

It looks like Amazon is trying to get back into the smartphone business after its Fire phone failed to gain any traction. A new report from The Information has stated that Amazon is looking forward to team up with Android OEMs to integrate its services into devices.

The report claims that Amazon “has discussed working with phone brands at a ‘factory level’ to integrate its services with devices in a deeper way than simply preloading apps.” We already know that Amazon’s shopping apps come pre-loaded on various devices but the the company wants to go beyond that and is looking for deeper integration. However, the report did not provide any further details about what to expect from this deeper integration. It looks like Amazon’s main aim is to work with smartphone makers to build phones that have its own software at a factory level instead of Google’s. The report did not mention any names of manufacturers which Amazon is eyeing though the company could start with budget device makers or entry level Chinese manufacturers.
