Weekly Roundup: Huawei Honor 5X, Oppo F1, Lenovo Vibe X3, BlackBerry Priv and more

 

This week Huawei launched two new smartphones in India – the Honor 5X and Honor Holly 2 Plus. The Honor 5X is the successor of one of the most popular Honor 4X smartphone that was launched in India last year.

It packs a 5.5-inch 1080p display with 72.5% screen-to-body ratio, is powered by an Octa-Core Snapdragon 616 processor, runs on Android 5.1 (Lollipop) with EMUI 3.1 on top, has a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. It has unibody metal build, fingerprint sensor 2.0 on the back that can unlock the phone in under 0.5 seconds, also has dedicated dual SIM slots and comes with 4G connectivity.

The Huawei Honor 5X comes in Silver and Sunset Gold colors and is priced at Rs. 12,999. It is available for pre-order on Flipkart and Amazon.in and goes on sale from February 1st. Check Photo Gallery here.

The Holly 2 Plus was actually introduced as Enjoy 5 in China last year. It packs a 5-inch HD display, is powered by a quad-core 64-bit MediaTek MT6735 processor, runs on Android 5.1 (Lollipop) with Emotion UI 3.1 on top, has a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. It has dual SIM support and comes with 4G connectivity. It supports both CDMA and GSM/WCDMA on both the slots.

The Huawei Honor Holly 2 Plus comes in Grey, Gold and White colors and is priced at Rs. 8,499 and will available through Flipkart and Amazon.in starting from February 15th. Check Photo Gallery.

Oppo launched F1 smartphone in India as it had announced recently. It is a selfie-centric smartphone with 8-megapixel front-facing camera and uses screen as a flash light to capture better images in low lighting conditions. It has a 13-megapixel rear camera with f/2.2 sensor, phase-detection auto-focus (PDAF), LED flash, 5-inch HD screen with 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection, is powered by an Octa-Core Snapdragon 616 processor and runs on Android 5.1 (Lollipop) with Color OS 2.1.

The OPPO F1 comes in Rose Gold and Golden colors and is priced at Rs. 15,990. It will be available in 8 cities in India starting from February 1st. Check out the OPPO F1 Unboxing here or watch video below.

The company alongside announced the F1 Plus smartphone for Rs. 26,990. It packs a 5.5-inch 1080p display and has 4GB of RAM compared to 5-inch HD display and 3GB RAM on the F1. It has a metal body, Octa-Core Snapdragon 616 processor, 13-megapixel rear camera with phase-detection auto-focus (PDAF), LED flash and runs on Android 5.1 (Lollipop) with Color OS 2.1, similar to the F1.

Oppo at the F1 launch event said that the phone has more sophisticated front camera, but it did not reveal any details about the sensor or the battery capacity at the event. The OPPO F1 Plus is priced at Rs. 26,990 in India and will go on sale sometime in April.

Lenovo launched the Vibe X3, it’s latest flagship smartphone in India, as it had promised. It was announced back in November last year, packs a 5.5-inch 1080p display, is powered by a hexa-core Snapdragon 808 processor, runs on Android 5.1 (Lollipop), has a 21-megapixel rear camera with phase-detection auto-focus (PDAF), dual-tone LED flash, Sony IMX230 sensor, 4K video recording and a 8-megapixel front-facing camera.

The Lenovo Vibe X3 comes in White color and is priced at Rs. 19,999 in India and is available exclusively through Amazon.in. Check out the Vibe X3 unboxing here.

On the other hand, Lenovo in China announced the successor of the K4 Note – the K5 Note. It packs a 5.5-inch 1080p display and runs on Android 5.1 (Lollipop), similar to the K4 Note, but this is powered by an Octa-Core MediaTek Helio P10 processor. It has a 13-megapixel rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, phase-detection auto-focus (PDAF) and a 8-megapixel front-facing camera. It has a aluminium unibody design and fingerprint sensor on the back that can detect fingerprints in just 0.3 seconds.

The Lenovo K5 Note comes in Silver and Golden colors and is priced at 1099 Yuan ($167 / Rs. 11,325 approx.). It is now available for order in China and ships from January 31st. No word on the global roll out yet.

Lava launched V5, the company’s latest 4G smartphone. It has a 5.5-inch HD display, is powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6735 64-bit processor, runs on Android 5.1 (Lollipop), which is upgradable to Android 6.0 (Marshmallow), has a 13-megapixel rear camera with dual LED flash, phase-detection auto-focus (PDAF) and a 8-megapixel front-facing camera with LED flash.

BlackBerry launched its first Android slider smartphone – BlackBerry Priv – in India. It was introduced back in October last year, packs a 5.4-inch Quad HD AMOLED display, is powered by an Hexa-core Snapdragon 808 processor, runs on Android 5.1.1 (Lollipop) with BlackBerry’s own features and apps, 18-megapixel rear camera with dual tone LED flash, OIS, phase-detection auto-focus (PDAF) and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.

The BlackBerry Priv comes in Black Color and is priced at Rs. 62,990 (MRP). It will be available from BlackBerry authorized partners & resellers, and from Amazon.in starting today, January 30th.

Microsoft introduced Nokia 230 and 230 Dual SIM selfie-focused feature phones with a 2-megapixel front-facing camera with LED flash back in November 2015. The Nokia 230 Dual SIM went on sale through official Microsoft online store in India last month, and this week it got officially launched. It has a 2.8-inch (320 x 240 pixels) QVGA LCD screen, polycarbonate frame and sand-blasted aluminum back cover, 2-megapixel front and rear cameras.

The Nokia 230 Dual SIM comes in silver and dark silver colors and is priced at Rs. 3,949.

OnePlus finally introduced the 16GB variant of OnePlus 2 smartphone in India. Earlier only the 64GB variant with 4GB of RAM went on sale in August for Rs. 24,999. Apart from storage and 3GB RAM, other specifications are similar such as 5.5-inch 1080p display, Snapdragon 810 processor, Oxygen OS based on Android 5.1 (Lollipop), fingerprint scanner, 13-megapixel rear camera with Laser Auto focus, Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), dual LED flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.

Vivo this week launched the Vivo Y51L, company’s latest smartphone in India. It was introduced as Y51 last month and packs a  5-inch qHD screen, is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 410 SoC, runs on Android 5.0 (Lollipop) with Funtouch OS 2.5 on top, has a 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.

 

The Vivo Y51L comes in White with Gold and Black colors and is priced at Rs. 11,980.

iberry launched Auxus Stunner that comes bundled with a Virtual Reality Headset that lets you view videos, games and several content on the smartphone in Virtual Reality. It will offer a 360 degree 3D dimensional view of the content, according to the company. It has a 5-inch HD display, is powered a 1.3GHz Octa-Core processor, has 3GB of RAM, runs on Android 5.1 (Lollipop), has a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera that also has LED flash. It has dual SIM support and 4G LTE connectivity.

The iberry Auxus Stunner is priced at Rs. 14,990 and is exclusively available from ebay.in.

iBall launched Gorgeo 4GL, company’s latest Android tablet with 4G support in the Slide series. It has a 7-inch (1024×600 pixels) IPS screen, is powered by a 1GHz quad-core 64-bit processor and runs on Android 5.1 (Lollipop). It has a 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera that also has an LED flash. It has dual-SIM support, 4G connectivity and voice calling capabilities.

The iBall Slide Gorgeo 4GL comes in Grey color and is priced at Rs. 6,999. It will soon be available across India.

FiiO launched the X7 Android audio player in India this week at Rs. 49,999 (MRP). It is available at a price of Rs 42,999 as a part of an introductory offer after which it will revert to the MRP of Rs 49,999. It features a Rockchip RK3188 SoC, ESS ES9018S DAC and OPA1612 buffer that provide upto 384kHz/32bit high quality audio. It also has 1GB of RAM which is good enough for a music player since it doesn’t require much apps or multi-tasking like on a regular smartphone.

It packs a 3.97″ 480p display.The device has a premium metal design and houses a 3500 mAH battery that is rated for upto 9 hours of audio playback. It supports lossless audio and a wide range of file formats as well. The X7 has a custom button mapping feature as well as WiFi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0 with EDR.
