Vic Gundotra was 21 in 1991 according to this document from Stanford University pictured below and was then Demoing some stuff to Microsoft’s then head of Sales , Steve Ballmer who is currently the CEO.He sparked Microsoft’s change from Win32 to the .NET programming model. In fact he spent 15 years at Microsoft since then. Vic quit Microsoft to join Google back in 2007 and spent 1 year in between due to Microsoft’s non-compete clause.
Now in 2010 , he’s on stage at Google I/O – the company’s largest annual developer conference to woo developers to build applications for the Android operating system. He’s currently VP of Engineering at Google responsible for developer evangelism
Vic did make the inaugural address on the first day of the event but it was pretty short yet he managed to poke fun at competitor Apple CEO’s Late night email about HTML5. On day 2 this man was on stage for nearly an hour and he did talk about Android and the latest version – Froyo and the upcoming changes to the Android platform and boy-o-boy he made us laugh repeatedly by criticizing Apple, Phone and the latest iPad . It was pay back time for Google against Apple who has criticized Android over Porn
He showed a demo of the improvements in the latest Android version and he also had an iPad there for comparison. In another instance he used the Nexus One as a Wi-Fi Hotspot for the iPad the the new version of Android supported Tethering !
Google had acquired a company called Simplify Media to make it possible to Stream Music over-the-air. At this instant he joked that they had discovered the Internet obviously poking fun at Apple iTunes !
If you are fan of Google , Android and not a huge fan of Apple’s shady practices you will certainly enjoy this set of videos.
We have managed to put together all the videos from yesterdays keynote in one place for you to enjoy !

iPhone did a lot in 3 years. Android has done a lot in 2 years
On a side note I’m a huge fan of Apple too and love the iPad and iPod Touch. The quality of apps on the Apple App Store are marginally better than those on Android. But If someone can give stiff competition for Apple it’s Google and competition is always great for the consumer . With phone makers like Motorola HTC , Sony Ericsson , Samsung etc. activating 100,000 Android phones is a dream come true for Google and a man like Vic Gundotra as a Developer Evangelist can certainly win more developers for Google Android.
