Ringing Bells to launch Freedom 251 smartphone in India for under Rs 500 on Feb. 17

Ringing Bells, a homegrown handset maker is all set to launch the cheapest smartphone in India which is priced under Rs 500. Dubbed as Freedom 251, the company will release the phone in the country tomorrow, February 17.

The phone will be launched by Union defense minister Manohar Parrikar. Based in Noida, Ringing Bells was founded in 2015 and it recently launched one of India’s cheapest 4G smartphone Bell 101 at Rs 2,999. It even released two feature phones in the country called as Bell Master and Bell 4U which are priced at Rs 999 and Rs 799 respectively. The company said that ‘Freedom 251’ launch is in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for “empowering India to the last person, transforming India’s growth story”. Initially, Ringing Bells will start with the assembly of handsets in Phase-I and aims at full indigenous development of the feature-rich smartphones. No other details about manufacturing, products and pricing are known as of now.

India recently became the second largest smartphone market in the world after China. The country has seen a large number of national and international smartphone makers kick start manufacturing and assembling in the country under the ‘Make in India’ initiative.
