Microsoft has introduced a wireless display adapter that uses Miracast technology to establish a private wireless connection between your Windows tablet and the display dongle. It is a successor to the first generation wireless display adapter that was launched in 2014.
The new wireless display adapter will allow Windows 10 owners to wirelessly mirror their screen on a monitor or TV. Users can mirror or extend their screen from Miracast-enabled Windows 10 phones, tablets and laptops, including the Surface lineup. Microsoft says that the new device reduces the latency and boasts of a new form factor. The adapter is also certified by Intel Wireless Display (Wi-Di) and works with 2-in-1s and tablet devices with Intel Wi-Di capability.
The device measures 4.07 x .87 x .43 in (103.5 x 22.0 x 11.0 mm) excluding length 11.8 in (300 mm) cable length and weighs 1.17 ounces (33.1 grams). The second generation Wireless Display Adapter is already available for preorder for $49.95 at the Microsoft Store, and it will be shipping on March 1. Microsoft will also be selling the device at Best Buy and Amazon.
