Chinese smartphone maker vivo today confirmed that its flagship Xplay5 smartphone will be powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor and pack whopping 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM. Most flagship smartphones come with 4GB of RAM, but this will probably be the first smartphone to come with 6GB of RAM.
Samsung started mass production of 12-gigabit LPDDR4 RAM at the end of last year, and at that time the company said that 6GB LPDDR4 RAM is expected in next-generation flagship mobile devices. Upcoming flagship Galaxy Note 6 is also rumored to come with 6GB of RAM.
vivo already confirmed that the xplay5 will come with dual curved edge display. According to earlier rumors, the phone is expected to pack 6-inch Quad HD screen, 16MP rear camera, 8MP front camera and a 4300mAh battery.
The launch event is scheduled for March 1st at 7:30 PM China time (5:00 PM IST) at Beijing’s Water Cube Convention Center. The company is expected to reveal more details about its flagship smartphone ahead of official announcement next Tuesday.
