Asus releases a timeline for the Marshmallow update

In November last year, Asus confirmed that a few of its devices will be receiving the update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. However, it didn’t release a timeline for the updates but now we do have one and it also has added a few more devices to the mix.

The post on Asus’s official ZenTalk forum reveals that the updates will be coming out in Q2 of 2016 to the following handsets:

PadFone S (PF500KL)
ZenFone 2 (ZE550ML, ZE551ML)
ZenFone 2 Deluxe (ZE551ML)
ZenFone 2 Deluxe Special Edition (ZE551ML)
ZenFone 2 Laser (ZE500KG, ZE500KL, ZE550KL, ZE551KL, ZE600KL, ZE601KL)
ZenFone Selfie (ZD551KL)
ZenFone Max (ZC550KL)
ZenFone Zoom (ZX551ML)

The update will bring around changes to the UI as well as performance upgrades among other Marshmallow goodness that most other phones receive as well such as App permissions, Doze, Now on Tap etc. Also, Google Messenger, Gmail and Calendar will replace the ASUS Messenger, ASUS Mail and ASUS Calendar apps if you restore the devices to factory settings after the update. However, you can still choose to download ASUS Messenger, ASUS Mail and ASUS Calendar from the Play Store again if you want.
