Microsoft’s next update for Window 10 which is code named as ‘Redstone 2’ will be delayed until early 2017, according to a latest report from ZDnet. The company had initially planned to release the update by the end of 2016 but as per the report it has been delayed in order to coincide with the launch of next-gen hardware from Microsoft.
Unfortunately, it’s not clear yet what Microsoft has in mind in respect to Redstone 2 or its upcoming hardware announcements. The news about Redstone 2 delay was first reported by WinBeta and it said that the update will include the Start Menu, Settings, Control Panel, and Notification Center and much more. Microsoft was expected to release Windows 10 Redstone 1 in June and Redstone 2 around November 2016, added the report.
The software giant is apparently delaying the Redstone 2 launch as it wants to test it more extensively and eventually ship it with next-gen Surface devices or other hardware. Microsoft announced the Lumia 950 and 950 XL, Surface Pro 4 and the Surface Book in October last year. Intel is expected to introduce its next gen processor dubbed Kaby Lake, by the end of 2016, and it is expected that the next Surface Pro could be powered by it.
