Samsung has been releasing Active variant of its flagships since past few years and now it is going with the same approach for Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge.
Reference of the Galaxy S7 Active has been spotted by SamMobile on Samsung Level, one of Samsung’s apps. The app was being updated with list of devices that it supports and the Galaxy S7 Active was spotted in the list. This is not the first time a reference of the Samsung Galaxy S7 Active has surfaced as last week popular tipster @evleaks said that the device could be codenamed Poseidon.
Until now, the Active variant of the phone was made waterproof and dust resistant and was positioned as rugged. Now the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge are already waterproof IP68 certified which allows submersion in up to 1.5 meters of water for 30 minutes. So, it will be interesting to see what plans Samsung has for the S7 Active. As per the report, Samsung could add military-grade protection (MIL-STD-810G) from liquids, particles and drops support to the phone.
For a quick reminder the Galaxy S6 Active could stay under 1.5 meters of water for 30 minutes, and could also deal with dust, extreme temperature, humidity, and high altitude.
