Flipkart’s eKart logistics to serve offline sellers

Flipkart’s logistics arm eKart will soon handle end-to-end fulfillment for offline sellers, reports YourStory. Earlier this week Paytm partnered with eKart to pilot a service, where goods shipped from its platform will be delivered by eKart. 70% of Flipkart’s total number of orders are handled by eKart.

eKart will be using the learning experience of Flipkart’s grocery delivery service ‘Nearby’ to look into food and grocery delivery, which was shut down in February this year. The latest report also says that Flipkart is also currently in talks with Jabong and Shopclues to explore tie-ups. An earlier report said that Flipkart has already begun a pilot to deliver shipments for Jabong.

Even though Flipkart is keen on helping offline sellers, it is also looking to bring those sellers online. Back in February, it launched a new cataloguing and listing service, Spotlist in an aim to bring sellers including SMEs, artisans and other businesses with instant access to list their products on Flipkart.

Amitesh Jha, Vice President, eKart said:

Over the years, eKart has been working towards understanding and solving the various inefficiencies and supply-chain issues Flipkart faces. With time we believe that we have built a robust system that can work as a business enabler and help provide efficiency for different businesses.
