Xiaomi Mi Band 2 launch delayed by a month confirms CEO Lei Jun

Xiaomi Mi Band 2 with a display was teased by the company’s co-founder and CEO Lei Jun last week. Now he has shared on weibo that the release of Mi Band 2 will be delayed by a month since the production is not complete to launch it this month. The Mi Band 2 was expected to be announced along with the Mi Max and MIUI 8 at an event in Beijing on May 10th, which is next Tuesday.

Liu De, co-founder and vice president at Xiaomi also said that stocks for Mi Band 2 will take some time so customers should be patient. Looks like Xiaomi is expecting a huge demand for the Mi Band 2, which is the third fitness tracker from the company, after the Mi Band and Mi Band Pulse (1S) and the first with a display.

A recent leak revealed the removable silicon band in yellow color. Mi Band 2 shows time, battery status and it is even expected to display daily steps, BPM and other statistics. It also sports a physical button.
