Google Photos v1.21 teardown suggests unlimited high quality photos, videos backup and more coming

Google’s next update for the Photos app might bring unlimited high quality backup for Nexus devices, some photo editing/ enhancements tool improvements, and new sorting methods for albums.

As of now, Google is pushing an update to the Photos app version 1.21, but it only brings bug fixing (the update hasn’t arrived to Google Play India as yet). Now the Photos v1.21 apk teardown by Android Police has found strings including some text that describe a very specific benefit for Nexus customers: they will enjoy free unlimited storage for original quality photos and videos uploaded from their Nexus devices, notes the Android Police. But the high quality here is likely to up to 1080p only and doesn’t include 4K.

As of now, photo editing options include Color adjust, Light, Pop, and Vignette, but report notes that there are two new types of adjustments are coming soon – Contrast and Exposure.

The teardown also points that sorting mode will be added as an additional option in the Edit Album screen. It will appear on the far right in the overflow menu, after Add Photos, Add Text, and Add Location. Furthermore, device folders will be moving to the Albums view.
