Facebook Messenger gets diverse emojis, better representations of women and more

Facebook Messenger is upping it’s emoji game by adding new ones and revamping older ones. The service is now offering more diverse emoji options including multiple skin tone choices.

Facebook is adding over 1500 emojis which aims at better representation of gender and skin tones. All these emojis will show up the way you see them on your device no matter the recipient’s platform. Some of these include, female police officer, runner, pedestrian, surfer and swimmer. You can also pick the skin color you prefer and there is also option to change it in settings or make a skin color default.

These new Facebook Messenger emojis will start rolling out across Android, iOS and platforms from today, June 2nd. You can tap the new emoji icon at the left of the composer to access them.
