This week, Micromax’s subsidiary YU launched its budget flagship smartphone YUNICORN in India exclusively on Flipkart.
The YUNICORN comes with a 5.5-inch 1080p 2.5D curved glass display with ultra-thin bezels, is powered by an Octa-Core MediaTek Helio P10 SoC and runs on Android 5.1 (Lollipop), which the company is calling Android on steroids since it has several features, including monochrome mode. It has a 13-megapixel rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, phase-detection auto-focus (PDAF) and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.
It has brushed aluminium back and 8.5mm slim metal frame. It has a fingerprint sensor embedded into the home button that lets you unlock the phone in less than 0.2 seconds. Check our unboxing below, and read full review here.

The YU YUNICORN comes in rush silver, graphite and limited edition rush gold color and is priced at Rs. 12,999 for the first month. After that it will be priced at Rs. 13,499. It will be exclusively available from Flipkart through flash sale starting from June 7th.
The company also introduced G Pad III 8.0, it’s latest mid-range tablet in Korea. It has a 8-inch (1920 × 1200) Full HD display, is powered by a 1.5GHz Octa-Core processor and runs on Android 6.0.1 (Marshmallow). It has a 8-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. It has a standard USB Type-A port that will let you use standard USB flash drives.
The LG G Pad III 8.0 s comes in Indigo Black and White colors and is priced at $240 (Rs. 16120 approx.) in the US and 330,000 Won in Korea.
Sony launched Xperia X and Xperia XA, the company’s latest smartphone in the new ‘X Series’ in India. Both these were announced at the MWC earlier this year.
The Xperia X has a 5-inch 1080p screen, is powered by a Hexa-Core Snapdragon 650 SoC, has a fingerprint sensors on the power button and a 23-megapixel rear camera with Predictive Hybrid Autofocus. The Sony Xperia XA has a 5-inch HD curved glass edge-to-edge display, is powered by an Octa-Core MediaTek Helio P10 (MT6755) processor, has a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, Hybrid Auto-Focus and a 8-megapixel front-facing camera. Both the phones run Android 6.0 (Marshmallow), come with dual SIM support and have 4G LTE connectivity.
The Xperia X and Xperia XA come in White, Graphite Black, Lime Gold and Rose Gold colors and are priced at Rs. 48,990 (MRP) and Rs. 20,990 (MRP), respectively. The Xperia X Dual is now available for pre-order exclusively through Amazon.in for Rs. 46,990 and at all authorized Sony mobile dealers offline and will be available from June 7th.
Xiaomi announced Mi Band 2, the company’s latest fitness and sleep tracker for this year. The main change compared to the Mi Band and the Mi Band Pulse is the 0.42-inch OLED display that shows time, steps and also heart rate when you tap the button below the display. It has IP67 ratings for water resistance, similar to the first two Mi Bands. It also has a new wristband design which is made of more skin-friendly material and doesn’t slip out of your hands easily.
It will also let you set customized alerts to nudge you to move, if you are sitting in a place for a long period of time. The Xiaomi Mi Band 2 comes in black color with colorful wrist bands in black, blue, green, orange and other colors and is priced at 149 yuan ($22 / Rs. 1520 approx.). It is now available for order through mi.com in China and will go on sale starting from June 7th. No details about the global roll out yet.
Samsung also announced its latest fitness tracker Gear Fit2 and a fitness tracking headset Gear IconX. The Gear Fit2It has a 1.5-inch Curved Super AMOLED screen, runs Tizen OS and automatically tracks 15 different fitness activities such as walking, squatting, yoga, treadmill and more. It also has a standalone music player that lets you transfer music between the Gear Fit2 and your smartphone with the Samsung Gear application.
It has GPS and a heart rate monitor (HRM) and can measure distance, pace, route and calories burned and heart rate. It can also play motivational soundtrack over Bluetooth to keep you moving. It also has IP68 ratings for dust and water resistance. The Samsung Gear Fit2 comes in black, blue and pink colors in small and large sizes and is priced at $179 (Rs. 12030 approx.). It will start rolling out from June 10th.
The Samsung Gear IconX fitness tracking headset can track heart rate, distance, speed, duration and calories burned and provide data through the voice guide, even without a smartphone. It also has a standalone music player that lets you transfer music between the Gear IconX and your smartphone with the Samsung Gear application. The Samsung Gear IconX comes in black, blue and white colors with three sizes of eartips and wingtips. It will be available beginning in Q3 2016. No word on the pricing yet.
Asus at Computex 2016 announced Zenfone 3 , Zenfone 3 Deluxe and Zenfne 3 Ultra. The Zenfone 3 packs a 5.5-inch 1080p Super IPS+ display with a screen-to-body ratio of 77.3%, 2.1mm narrow bezel and has 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass protection. It is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor and runs on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) with Zen UI on top. It has a 16-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera.

The Zenfone 3 Deluxe packs a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display with a screen-to-body ratio of 79%, 1.3mm ultra narrow bezels, is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 820 processor and runs on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) with Zen UI on top. It has a 23-megapixel rear camera with Sony IMX318 sensor, f/2.0 aperture, 4-axis optical image stabilization (OIS), 3-axis electronic image stabilization and Asus Pixelmaster 3.0 camera.

Asus has announced Zenfone 3 Ultra at the Computex 2016, along with the Zenfone 3 and Zenfone 3 Deluxe. It packs a 6.8-inch 1080p with a screen-to-body ratio of 79% and Tru2Life+ Video technology. It is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 652 processor and runs on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) with Zen UI on top. It has a 23-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera.

The Asus Zenfone 3 comes in Shimmer Gold, Aqua Blue, Sapphire Black and Moonlight White colors and starts at $249 (Rs. 16,760 approx.) for the 3GB RAM with 32GB storage variant. The Asus Zenfone 3 Deluxe comes in Titanium Gray, Glacier Silver and Sand Gold colors. It starts at $499 (Rs. 33,600 approx.) for the 6GB RAM with 64GB storage version. The Asus Zenfone 3 Ultra comes in Glacier Silver,Titanium Gray and Metallic Pink colors and starts at $479 (Rs. 32,225 approx.) for the 4GB RAM with 64GB storage version.
The company also announced the next-generation ZenBook 3 notebook and the Transformer 3 Pro 2-in-1 notebook. The Asus ZenBook 3 features a revamped ultra-slim design with 11.9mm chassis and is made from aerospace-grade aluminum alloy 50% stronger than the standard alloy used in laptops.
It sports 12.5-inch display and has a wide 72% NTSC color gamut with scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass 4 on top. It features slim bezel design that provides an 82% screen-to-body ratio for the maximum display size. The ZenBook 3 is powered by an Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB of 2133MHz RAM, up to a 1TB PCIe Gen 3 x4 SSD. It supports USB Type-C port and comes with quad-speaker audio by Harman Kardon.
The Asus Transformer 3 Pro 2-in-1 notebook is made of aluminum, is only 8.35mm thin and features diamond-cut detailing. It has an integrated metal kickstand with a stepless hinge that lets users set the device at different viewing angle up to 170°. It comes bundled with Asus Transformer Cover Keyboard which is backlit and provides laptop-grade 1.4mm key travel for a comfortable typing experience. The device sports a 12.6-inch display with a resolution of 2880 by 1920 and a 275ppi pixel density and a gamut of 121% sRGB color space for rich, vibrant colors.
The Transformer 3 Pro is powered by an Intel Core i7 processor and has up to a 1TB PCIe x4 SSD and 16GB of 2133MHz RAM for the ultimate performance. The USB Type-C connector supports USB 3.1 Gen 2 devices at speeds up to 10Gbps, and Thunderbolt 3 provides fast 40Gbps data transfers and support for dual external 4K UHD displays. In addition, the device comes with USB 3.0 and HDMI ports.
The Asus ZenBook 3 starts at $999 and comes in Royal Blue, Rose Gold and Quartz Grey color variants. The Asus Transformer 3 Pro starts at $999 and comes in Icicle Gold and Glacier Gray color options.
Alcatel introduced the X1 smartphone in India. It has a 5-inch HD AMOLED screen with Dragontail Glass protection and has Gorilla Glass protection on the back. It is powered by an Octa-Core Snapdragon 615 SoC, runs on Android 5.1 (Lollipop), has a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera that also has LED flash. It has dual-SIM support and 4G LTE connectivity.
The Alcatel X1 is priced at Rs. 15,999 and is available through online retailers Flipkart and Amazon.in.
Intex launched the iRist Junior smartwatch for kids last month and also announced the iRist Pro. This week, company launched the iRist Pro smartwatch exclusively on Flipkart. It is also a fitness tracker that lets you track your fitness activities and can also make or receive calls, get notifications, call logs, call alerts, control phone’s camera or charge tracks once it is connected to a smartphone over Bluetooth.
It supports both Android and iOS devices, but lacks a camera that was present in the first iRist smartwatch. The Intex iRist Pro comes in black colored body with Black or Brown band options, is priced at Rs. 4,999 and is exclusively available from Flipkart.
Reliance Retail launched Lyf Flame 6, the company’s latest 4G smartphone with VoLTE, after launching the Lyf Flame 3 and Lyf Flame 4 smartphones. It has a 4-inch WVGA screen, is powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core processor and runs on Android 5.1 (Lollipop), similar to the Lyf Flame 3 and Lyf Flame 4, but this has a 2-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. It has dual SIM support.
The Reliance Lyf Flame 6 comes in black color and is priced at Rs. 3,999 (MOP), same as the Lyf 3 and Lyf 4. It is available through offline retailers.
Micromax launched Canvas tab P701, the company’s latest tablet with 4G connectivity and voice calling capabilities. It has a 7-inch (1024 x 600 pixels) IPS display, is powered by a quad-core MediaTek processor, runs on Android 5.1 (Lollipop), has a 5-megapixel auto focus rear camera with LED flash and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera.
The Micromax Canvas Tab P701 comes in Blue and Grey colors, is priced at Rs. 7,250 and is exclusively available from Flipkart.
Lava launched A82, the company’s latest smartphone in the A Series. It has a 5-inch FWVGA display, is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor and runs on Android 5.1 (Lollipop). It has a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and 2-megapixel front-facing camera that also has an LED flash for capturing better selfies even in low lighting conditions. It has dual-SIM support and 3G connectivity.
The Lava P7 comes in White, Blue and Gold colors, is priced at 5,299 (MRP) and will be available at all retail stores and multi-brand outlets across the country.
Videocon launched Krypton3 V50JG, the company’s latest 4G smartphone with VoLTE support. It has a 5-inch HD 2.5D curved screen with DragontrailX Glass protection, is powered by a quad-core MediaTek MT6735V SoC, runs on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow), has a 13-megapixel rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, Samsung ISCOCELL sensor, phase-detection auto-focus (PDAF) for quick focus and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.
The Videocon Krypton3 V50JG comes in Royal Blue and Space Grey colors and is priced at Rs. 10,000.
Lastly, HP unveiled its “thinnest and lightest” business notebook EliteBook Folio in India alongside the convertible Elite x2 1012.
The HP EliteBook Folio is company’s thinnest and lightest business notebook ever. It is only 12.4mm thick and weighs less than 1kg. It has 12.5-inch Full-HD UWVA ultra slim LED-backlit touch screen, is powered by Intel Core M5-6Y54 with Intel HD Graphics 515 (1.1 GHz, up to 2.7 GHz with Intel Turbo Boost Technology, 4 MB cache, 2 cores), 8GB LPDDR3 RAM, and 256GB SATA SSD.
On the other hand, the HP Elite x2 1012 is a convertible tablet that offers the productivity of a full notebook, just like the Microsoft Surface Pro. The tablet weighs less than 840 grams and has a 12-inch (1920×1280 pixels) anti-glare touch display. It is powered by Intel Core M processor with 8GB of RAM and 256GB SSD.
