We’ve already covered in detail about the various capabilities and advantages that the first generation Compute Stick from Intel offers users. Now, the second generation takes things forward by combining more power and features into a similarly compact form factor.

The 2nd Gen Compute Stick is slightly larger than the first gen in terms of physical dimensions but brings in a big improvement in terms of performance. Just like the 1st Gen device, the Compute Stick is capable of transforming your regular TV or monitor into a Smart device just by using the HDMI port.

The form factor resembles a large flash drive and measures 4.5 inches in length. Don’t be fooled by the size since it packs full blown PC hardware inside it including high end graphics and wireless connectivity.

The 2nd Gen Compute Stick comes with either an Intel Atom X5-Z8300 (Quad-Core 1.44GHz) or a Core m3-6Y30 (Dual-Core 0.9 GHz) or a Core m5-6Y57 (Dual-Core 1.1 GHz) running on the top end variant. All three are based on the 14nm manufacturing process. Models provide upto 64GB of on-board storage as well.

The Atom variant will set the user back US$ 119.99 while the lower end m3 variant will cost you US$ 359.99 and the higher end m5 variant will cost you US$ 485. The Atom variant comes with 2GB of DDR3L RAM clocked in at 1600 MHz while the Core m variants have 4GB of LPDDR3 RAM clocked in at 1866 MHz.

All three variants come with built-in card readers, Bluetooth and WiFi capabilities that will help you connect a mouse and a keyboard too. You get a full fledged USB 3.0 Type A port and a USB Type-C port as well. They even pack tiny fans inside for quiet and reliable performance.
