Instagram had added Video channels to the Explore tab in April this year. Now, the popular photo sharing app will now display video content based on the topics that you most like.
Dubbed as“Picked for You” the update adds a number of topic based channels that allow users to watch clips that are related to their specific interests. The Explore tab will now feature videos grouped by your favorite topics and interests.
These channels are algorithmically generated and curated by Instagram. Posts are selected automatically based on things like the people you follow or the posts you like. Instagram says the total time people spent watching video on Instagram increased 150 percent over the past six months.
Instagram says that the latest personalized video channels update to the Explore tab are currently available only in the US. The app said that it is working on rolling out the latest feature to global users. Earlier this week, Instagram revealed that it has over 500 million monthly active users and just yesterday it was announced that it will soon get in-app translation feature.
