Airtel has launched its 2G and 3G mobile services in remote towns of Lumla, Nafra and Longding in Arunachal Pradesh under its network transformation program Project Leap. “This is also the first time that customers in these towns will have access to 3G mobile services,” said the company.
Airtel was also the first operator to launch 3G in the state and is the only operator that offers 4G in Arunachal Pradesh. Airtel 4G is available in towns like Bomdilla, Naharlagun, Daporijo, Itanagar, Tawang and Zero.
Airtel is also the largest mobile operator in North East and Assam. Airtel’s mobile network currently covers close to half of the total population of Arunachal Pradesh.
Last year Airtel launched its Rs. 60,000 crore network transformation and expansion program ‘Project Leap’ aimed at improving network quality. It also launched a microsite that allows customers to track the progress in their respective localities.
