It looks like Snapdeal wants to be more than just any other e-commerce platform. One of the largest marketplaces in India is now foraying into online service market with a bunch of tie ups.
Snapdeal has teamed up with Zomato, Cleartrip, redBus, and UrbanClap, to integrate their services on its platform. With these partnerships, Snapdeal users can now order food, book flight and bus tickets, make hotel reservations and so on.
Rohit Bansal, Co-Founder of Snapdeal, said in a statement,
As we build the country’s most reliable and frictionless commerce ecosystem, the introduction of services on Snapdeal is a big leap forward in catering to nearly all the consumption needs of our customers.
The move comes from Snapdeal as it faces tough competition from the likes of Amazon.in and Flipkart. The addition of these popular online services could help Snapdeal in increasing user engagement on its platform.
Earlier this year, Snapdeal had introduced recharges and bill payments on its platform. These online services are available on Snapdeal’s website as well a mobile app. While checking out the app for services we found that Uber integration is also present. A new ‘Services’ section has been added in the menu which comprises of all the aforementioned services. Users will need a Freecharge account to use either of these services.
Snapdeal says it plans to add more service providers from other categories in the coming months and years.
