Samsung has released a new software update for its Gear S2 smartwatch that brings major updates and improvements. The company had launched the Gear S2 in Classic and Sport variant in September at IFA 2015.

The software update has a file size of 61.1MB and firmware version R732XXU2DPFB (for the Gear S2 classic) or R730XXU2DPFB (for the Gear S2 Sport). The update enables users to install suggested apps directly from the watch. This is a good feature as prior to this, you had to rely on your phone to install apps.

Next up, the update lets you create and set watchface of your choice. Images that are saved on your phone can be transformed into watchface backgrounds through the My Photos watchface. Now you can choose up to 10 images and these will cycle every time you wake up the watch’s display. Other feature include social sharing for activities, automatic sleep tracking, new S Voice commands, a new contacts app and widget.
