This week Xiaomi announced Redmi Pro, and Mi Notebook Air at an event in China.
The Xiaomi Redmi Pro has a 5.5-inch 1080p OLED 2.5D curved glass display, is powered by a deca-core MediaTek Helio X20 / X25 SoC and runs on MIUI 8 based on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow). It has dual rear cameras, a 13-megapixel camera along with a 5-megapixel camera for achieving depth of field and real-time background blur. It also has a fingerprint sensor on the front built into the home button.
The Xiaomi Redmi Pro comes in Gold, Silver and Gray colors and is priced at 1499 yuan (US$ 224 / Rs. 15,110 approx.) for the standard 2.1GHz Helio X20 SoC, 3GB RAM with 32GB storage variant, 1699 yuan (US$ 254 / Rs. 17,130 approx.) for the high-end 2.3GHz Helio X25 SoC, 3GB RAM with 64GB storage variant and the premium version with 2.5GHz Helio X25 SoC, 4GB RAM and 128GB storage is priced at 1999 yuan (US$ 299 / Rs. 20,150 approx.). It will be available for order in China from August 6.
The Mi Notebook Air is Xiaomi’s first Windows 10 laptop. It comes in 12.5-inch and 13.3-inch models with 1080p displays with 5.71mm and 5.59mm ultra-narrow borders, respectively. It has a full metal body with 135-degree opening and closing hinge. The 12.5-inch model is just 12.9mm thick and weighs 1.07kg and the 13.3-inch model is 14.8mm thick, compared to 17mm thick MacBook Air and weighs just 1.28kg.
It has full-sized backlit keyboard with 1.3mm key travel, 3nits brightness and glass trackpad. It has support for 1C fast charging technology so that it takes on half an hour to charge the laptop to 50%.
The Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air comes in Gold and Silver colors. The 12.5-inch version is priced at 3499 yuan (US$ 524 / Rs. 35,260 approx.) and the 13.3-inch version costs 4999 yuan (US$ 749 / Rs. 50,355 approx.). It will go on sale in China from August 2nd.
Samsung launched the Galaxy J2 (2016) smartphone with Smart Glow feature in India last month for Rs. 9750. Today the company launched an upgraded version of the phone called Galaxy J2 Pro with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage, instead of 1.5GB of RAM and 8GB of storage in Galaxy J2 (2016).
Other specifications are the same, including the 5-inch HD Super AMOLED display, quad-core Spreadtrum processor, Android 6.0 (Marshmallow), 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, 5-megapixel front-facing camera, Ultra data saving (UDS) mode powered by Opera Max, S bike mode and Turbo Speed Technology (TST).
The Samsung Galaxy J2 Pro comes in Black, Silver and gold colors, is priced at Rs. 9,890 and is available exclusively from Snapdeal.
The firm also launched 256GB UHS-I (U3), Class 10 microSD card in India. It has Samsung’s advanced V-NAND technology, offering high read and write speeds of up to 95MB/s and 90MB/s, respectively. It will be useful for high-resolution photography and 4K video recording, as well as graphic intensive multimedia like virtual reality (VR) and gaming.
The Samsung Evo Plus 256GB microSD card is priced at an MSRP of Rs. 12,999 and is available exclusively for Rs. 11,999 from Flipkart.
Gionee announced M6 and M6 Plus smartphones in China. The Gionee M6 packs in a 5.5-inch 1080p AMOLED display and the M6 Plus packs a 6-inch 1080p AMOLED screen. Both the phones are powered by an Octa-Core MediaTek Helio P10 SoC and run Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) with Amigo OS 3.2 on top. The Gionee M6 has a 13-megapixel rear camera with phase-detection auto-focus (PDAF), LED flash and the M6 Plus has a 16-megapixel rear camera. Both the phones have a 8-megapixel front-facing camera.
Both the phones have an encrypted chip to secure a user’s personal data and also for secured calls and SMS, in the Chinese version and international version of the phones come with a fingerprint sensor on the front. Both have infrared sensor on the top but the M6 Plus doesn’t have a 3.5mm audio jack.
The Gionee M6 packs a 5000mAh battery and the M6 Plus comes with a 6020mAh battery. Both have 9V/2A fast charging support with dual charging chip.
The Gionee M6 come in Champagne Gold and Latte Gold colors and the M6 Plus comes only in Champagne Gold color. The M6 is priced at 2699 yuan (US$ 404 / Rs. 27220 approx.) for the 64GB version and the 128GB version is priced at 2899 yuan (US$ 434 / Rs. 29225 approx.). It will go on sale in China from August 6th. The Gionee M6 Plus costs 2999 yuan (US$ 449 / Rs. 30230 approx.) for the 64GB version and the 128GB version is priced at 3199 yuan (US$ 479 / Rs. 32249 approx.). It will go on sale in China on August 13. No details about the global roll out yet.
Sony just launched the Xperia XA Ultra smartphone in India as it had promised last week. It was announced in May, has a 21.5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, Hybrid Auto-Focus and a 16-megapixel front-facing camera that also has a LED flash and OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) for capturing shake-free selfies. It also has a dedicated camera button.
The Sony Xperia XA Ultra comes in White, Graphite Black and Lime Gold colors and is priced at Rs. 29,990. It will be available through all Sony Center and major electronic stores across India.

ZTE launched Blade V6 and Axon Mini smartphones in India. The Blade V6 packs a 5-inch HD display and is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6735 SoC, while the Axon Mini comes with a 5.2-inch 1080p AMOLED 2.5D curved glass screen with 0.85mm slim bezels and is powered by an Octa-Core Snapdragon 616 SoC. Both the phones have a dual SIM support and 4G LTE connectivity.
The Axon mini has a fingerprint scanner on the back, Eyeprint ID eye-scan and also voice control. Both the phones have a unibody metal design and the Axon mini has aircraft-grade aluminum alloy body.
The ZTE Blade V6 and Axon mini are priced at Rs. 9,999 and Rs. 23,599, respectively and are available from retail stores across India.
Creative launched Creative Aurvana ANC, its latest headphones with Active Noise Cancellation, targeted at urban travelers. It has over-the-ear design, foldable earcups with polished chrome finish, lightweight body, steel headband and comfortable ear padding. It comes with a durable braided audio cable with inline microphone for music controls and phone calls.
BlackBerry just announced DTEK50, which it claims to be the world’s most secure smartphone. It encrypts all users’ information, including business critical data and personal data and is FIPS 140-2 Compliant. It also has Malware protection along with back-up wipe and restore capabilities.
The software provides users with visibility and control over which apps get access to personal info or device features such as the microphone or camera. DTEK by BlackBerry app enables users to automatically monitor their OS and apps to know when their privacy could be at risk and to take action to improve it.
It has Secure Boot Process so each stage of DTEK50’s secure boot chain must first verify that the next component is fully intact before proceeding, ensuring your device has not been tampered with since the last restart.
In terms of specs, it shares similar specifications as the Alcatel Idol 4 that was introduced earlier this year.
Reliance Retail launched Lyf Water 8, its latest smartphone with VoLTE support in the Water series. It has a 5-inch HD AMOLED display, is powered by an Octa-Core Snapdragon 615 SoC and runs on Android 5.1 (Lollipop). It has a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera that also has LED flash for capturing better images in low lighting conditions.
The Lyf Water 8 comes in black and white colors and is priced at Rs. 10,999.
iBall launched Slide Wings, the company’s latest tablet in the Slide series. It has a 8-inch (1280 x 800 pixels) display, is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, runs on Android 5.1 (Lollipop), has a 5-megapixel auto focus rear camera with LED flash and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. It has 3G connectivity, dual-SIM support and voice calling capabilities.
The iBall Slide Wings comes in Grey color, is priced at Rs. 7,999 and is available across India.
Asus launched G20CB compact gaming desktop in India under its Republic of Gamers (ROG) series. The desktop is powered by latest NVIDIA Pascal GeForce GTX 1080 GPU.
The ROG G20CB includes a 6th generation Intel i7 Skylake processor and its light zones are now fully customizable, offering 8 million colors in pulse, color cycle or music equalizer modes.
TCL launched TCL 562, the company’s latest smartphone, soon after the launch of TCL 560. It has a 5.5-inch 1080p screen, is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio P10 SoC and runs on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow). It has a 13-megapixel rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, PDAF and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera that also has LED flash.
It also has a fingerprint sensor on the home button and comes with dual-SIM support and packs a 2960mAh battery.
The TCL 562 comes in Gold color and is priced at Rs. 10,999. It will be available from Amazon.in starting from August 3rd.

Micromax launched Ignite LPQ61, its latest Windows 10 laptop in the new Ignite series. It has a 14-inch (1366 x 768 pixels) display, is powered by a quad-core Intel Pentium N3700 processor, has 4GB of RAM and 1TB of hard disk.
The Micromax Ignite LPQ61 comes in Black color, is priced at Rs. 18,990 and is available exclusively on Flipkart.
Lastly, InFocus launched M535+, successor of last year’s M535. It has a 5.5 1080p display, is powered by an Octa-Core MediaTek, runs on Android 6.0 (marshmallow) with Inlife UI and has 13-megapixel auto focus cameras on the front and the back.
The Infocus M535+ comes in Gold and Silver colors and is priced at Rs. 11,999. It is available from all leading retail stores across India.
