Lenovo introduced the K5 Note in India today. The phone is positioned as a competitor to the likes of the Redmi Note 3 and others in the sub Rs. 15,000 category. We got to spend some time with the handset and here’s what we thought.
Lenovo Vibe K5 Note specifications

The front of the phone has a 5.5 inch Full HD display that goes up to 450nits of brightness. We found the phone to be sufficiently visible outdoors albeit on an overcast day. The screen tends to attract fingerprints and was quite reflective so we’ll have to wait and see how well it holds up in bright sunlight.
The right side of the handset integrates a volume rocker and power button. The volume rocker isn’t segmented which we aren’t particularly fond of because of the reduced tactile feedback. The power button is well placed and sits right within reach of your finger. The left side of the phone has the Hybrid Dual SIM (nano) slot wherein the second slot doubles up as a memory card slot. Lenovo says you can add in 128GB to the phone to add to the 32GB built in storage.
While the front of the phone includes an 8MP camera, the rear module has a 13MP sensor built into it. Below it lies the dual LED flash and the fingerprint module is the third hardware feature visible on the device.
The Lenovo K5 Note runs Android 6.0 with a surprisingly light UI overlay. This ensures that things keep running nice and smooth all around. Additions are minimal but tend to be rather useful, especially Secure Zone that allows you to secure all your information and lets users install 2 instances of apps like Whatsapp in one device. The phone is powered by a 1.8Ghz MediaTek Helio P10 chipset which is paired with 3 or 4GB of RAM depending on the SKU you chose. There’s 32GB of storage built in as well. What really surprised us however was how Lenovo managed to fit in a 3500 mAh battery into the slim shell of the device. The phone is priced at Rs. 11,999 and 13,499 for the 3GB and 4GB variants and makes for a rather well polished device at its price point. We’ll have a full Lenovo K5 Note review for you soon but in the meanwhile, do check out our photo gallery of the hardware.
