Microsoft announced the KIN phones KIN1 and KIN2 back only in April and now is killing the product to focus on Windows Phone 7. Microsoft will continue to sell the phones through Verizon in USA but we fear it might not be long until Verizon ran out of inventory. There were some reports that only 500 phones were sold since the launch and the sales were not as expected.
Here is the official statement from Microsoft about the matter
“We have made the decision to focus on our Windows Phone 7 launch and we will not ship KIN in Europe this fall as planned. Additionally, we are integrating our KIN team with the Windows Phone 7 team, incorporating valuable ideas and technologies from KIN into future Windows Phone releases. We will continue to work with Verizon in the U.S. to sell current KIN phones.”
This means that the KIN will never reach Europe as hinted before
