Intex Aqua S7 Hands On Impressions and Photo Gallery

Intex in collaboration with Asahi DragonTrail launched a dual-SIM 4G smartphone dubbed the Intex Aqua S7 in India for Rs. 9,499. The highlights of the Auqa S7 are its 3GB RAM, solid DragonTrail display glass, and a Fingerprint Sensor. The phone is available across retail channels in the country with Reliance Jio 4G Welcome offer. It comes in Champagne, Dark Blue, Rose Gold and Silver colours options.

Upfront, the Intex Aqua S7 packs a 5-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) 2.5D curved glass and Asahi Dragon trail Glass protection display, which company claims it to be six times stronger than any other normal IPS panel. We also found it to be nice and solid, although it is slightly glossy and attracts smudges easily.

Above the display sits the 5-megapixel front facing camera along with two sensors – proximity and ambient light sensor, and of course the earpiece grill. The three touch buttons – Back, Home and Recents – sit within the display.

The back sports a fingerprint sensor below the rear camera, which we found it to be mostly accurate and decently fast. The removable back panel is matte finished, so it doesn’t get dirty.

The Aqua S7 slightly bulky with 8.7mm thickness and weighs 150gms. The power and volume keys on the right side seem solid with good tactile feedback.

The 3.5mm audio jack sits on the top edge. The Micro-USB charging / data syncing port along with loudspeaker grill and primary microphone sit at the bottom edge.

The Intex Aqua S7 is a dual-SIM device and it doesn’t have hybrid SIM slot. So you have the option of putting in two Micro-SIM cards along with a microSD card for expandability up to additional 64GB. The microSD card slot is just above the SIM 2 slot. Both SIM supports 4G VoLTE in India and these slots can be found underneath removable back cover.

The handset is backed by a 3200mAh Li-Polymer non-removable battery, which company claims can offer talk-time up to 22 hours along with a standby time of at least 10 days.

The Intex Aqua S7 is powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6735 64-bit processor coupled with 3GB of RAM and runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

On camera front, it packs a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED Flash and a secondary 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The front camera appeared below average to us, while the rear camera was snappy but had a blue-tint in all the shots taken in our little time with the device, so we’ll tell you our final verdict once we have the device with us for full review.

Overall our first impression of the Aqua S7 is that it is a solid device from Intex portfolio for offline market where company has a loyal consumer base. While the looks of Aqua S7 are average, the device feels solid indeed. Also, the fingerprint sensor does a fair job, but having said that there is a strong competition in the sub-10K price segment and we think Intex could have priced it a little better. We are yet to test the device thoroughly to see if it can stand the competition or not, so do stay tuned for our final review.
