Samsung launched its flagship Galaxy Note7 smartphone in India last month and started took pre-orders for the phone in the country from August 22nd till August 30th. It was supposed to go on sale in the country on September 2nd but it got delayed since it recalled the smartphone globally due to battery issues.
Today is has issued a statement saying that the it has delayed sales of Galaxy Note7 in India due to battery cell issues and is conducting thorough inspection with its suppliers to identify possible affected batteries in the market.
It already announced that the new Gear VR will be available at a discounted rate of Rs. 1990, compared to the original price of Rs. 7290 for all the customers who pre-ordered the smartphone. Now Samsung will ship the new Gear VR available absolutely free of cost for the pre-orders. Once the phone is available, the customer need to activate the device within the stipulated time to avail the offer. All the details will be informed to the customers who had pre-booked the device, by SMS/Call/email. It is also offering Rs. 3300 approx. ($50) worth Oculus content voucher.
Samsung has not announced when the phone will be on sale in India. If you have already pre-booked the device and in case you wish to get a refund, you can contact your retailer/online portal for details, says Samsung.
Regarding the delay in the Galaxy Note7 sales in India, Samsung said:

We acknowledge the inconvenience caused to you but this is to ensure that Samsung continues to deliver the highest quality products to our customers. Appreciate your understanding.
