How to find out whether you have a safe Samsung Galaxy Note7 or not

Samsung is already recalling millions of Galaxy Note7 units that have been sold and additionally, it has halted sales of units in certain regions as well. But how can you be sure that the new unit that you are receiving or planning to purchase soon is a safe one? Let’s find out.

Samsung is losing close to 1 and a half billion dollars on the recall but safety is number one priority and we are glad to see that Samsung is taking all efforts to fix the issue.

Customers who already have the Note7 will get free replacements along with other goodies based on the region. Sales have also been stopped till they are able to replace every existing unit and replace old stock with new. But there is still a chance that you may purchase a faulty one accidentally.

But there is a way to make sure that the Note7 that you get is safe. Here’s how:

The new Galaxy Note7 that is safe will come with with two visual indicators on the box to reassure the customers that it is safe. So you will be able to check before purchasing the unit itself. Firstly, there will be a small black square near the barcode as well as a circular sticker with the letter S on it. The S should stand for “Safe”. These two are indications that you have a safe Galaxy Note7 in your hands.

In case you have lost the box, do not fret since Samsung is planning to release an online tool that will help you ascertain whether or not your phone is same by feeding in the IMEI of your handset. The exact date for this database will depend on your country of purchase. For Australia in particular, this database will go online on September 21st.
