Facebook may integrate Rooms feature into Messenger

Facebook had killed a number of apps like Rooms, Slingshot and others in December last year that had failed to gain any traction. However, it looks like the social network is planning to bring back Rooms in form of a feature to the Messenger.

A latest report from Tech Crunch says that Facebook an unreleased featured named Rooms hidden in its source code for Messenger. Rooms which was a product of the Creative Labs allowed users to create public, sharable group chats. The source code in the app reads, “Introducing rooms. Rooms are for public conversations about topics and interests. Each room has a link that can be shared so anyone on Messenger can join the conversation”.

The screenshots show how users are can use Rooms and chat using the features and interface of Messenger. They also show how users can share a link to the Room to make it easier for other users to join. It also explains how to manage Rooms.

Facebook did not initially comment on the Rooms integration to Messenger however it offered a statement saying, “We often run small tests – nothing else to share beyond that.”
