Google had announced Daydream its own virtual reality platform in May at the I/O conference. The company has now launched its virtual reality software development kit (SDK) out of beta.
The Google VR SDK 1.0 with support for Daydream is now available for all developers. They can make apps for Daydream-ready phones and headsets. In order to make it easier for developers to develop apps using Google VR SDK 1.0, the company has integrated with Unity and Unreal game engines.
Nathan Martz, Product Manager, Google VR,
Our updated SDK simplifies common VR development tasks so you can focus on building immersive, interactive mobile VR applications for Daydream-ready phones and headsets, and supports integrated asynchronous reprojection, high fidelity spatialized audio, and interactions using the Daydream controller.
The SDK is now available to all via the Daydream developer website. Google is expected to launch Daydream VR platform in coming weeks.
