Google expected to announce Andromeda Android-Chrome OS on October 4

Google was rumored to be working on a new OS which will be a merger of Android and Chrome. Now a new report claims that the company will unveil Andromeda, a hybrid OS along with the new Pixel devices next month.

The Wall Street Journal had reported in October last year Google is planning to fold Chrome OS into Android by 2017 and give an early peek of the new hybrid OS by 2016. Hiroshi Lockheimer, senior vice president of Android, Chrome OS, and Google Play at Google has shared a tweet with suggests that major changes could come to Android OS and all of this will be shared on October 4.

The new OS which will be a result of merging Android-Chrome is being code-named internally as Andromeda. 9to5Google has spotted references about the same within the Android 7.0 Nougat AOSP and apparently Google is testing it on Nexus 9.

It will be interesting to see what Google plans to offer with Andromeda. We will have to wait till October 4th for the same. Earlier this year Google announced that it will bring Android apps and Google Play Store to Chromebooks.
