Google acquires Eyefluence eye-tracking start-up

Google has acquired Eyefluence eye-tracking startup to boost its virtual reality efforts. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Founded in 2013, Eyefluence has developed eye-interaction technology that tracks eye behavior for virtual reality and augmented reality applications. Eyefluence enable users wearing a VR or AR headset to use their eyes to map movements.

Today, we are excited to announce that the Eyefluence team is joining Google!  With our forces combined, we will continue to advance eye-interaction technology to expand human potential and empathy on an even larger scale.  We look forward to the life-changing innovations we’ll create together!

It is not exactly clear how Google plans to use the Eyefluence technology into its products. Google announced DayDream VR headset in May which is now available for pre-order for $79.
