Xiaomi today announced its flagship Mi Note 2 smartphone at an event in Beijing. We were live at the event and have got our hands on the phone. Let’s take a detailed look at the hardware and specifications of the phone.
The Mi Note 2 sports a 5.7-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) OLED 3D dual curved glass display, 110% NTSC color gamut. It is powered by a 2.35GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 821 64-bit processor with Adreno 530 GPU. Running Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) with MIUI 8 on top, the phone comes with 4GB DDR4 RAM with 64GB internal (UFS 2.0) memory / 6GB DDR4 RAM with 128GB (UFS 2.0) internal memory.
The Mi Note 2 takes design cues from the Samsung Galaxy Note7 edge. It has 8MP auto focus front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture, Sony IMX258 sensor, 76-degree field of view. Also present at the front is the earpiece, LED notification light and usual set of proximity and ambient light sensor.
The phone has an aluminium frame, narrower bezels and a thin body. At the bottom the phone has a physical home button which is equipped with a fingerprint sensor.
On the right side the phone has a power button and volume rockers. The phone measures 156.2 x 77.3 x 7.6 mm and weighs 166 grams.
The left side houses dual nano SIM card slot.
A 3.5mm audio jack, secondary microphone and IR blaster are present on the top.
At the bottom, the phone has a USB Type-C port,loudspeaker grill and a primary microphone on either side. Also seen are antenna band cutouts.
At the back the phone has a 22.56MP rear camera with dual-tone LED Flash, EIS, Sony IMX318 sensor, 6-element lens, f/2.0 aperture and has support for 4K video recording.
The Mi branding is also present at the bottom on the glass back. Connectivity options on the phone include 4G LTE with VoLTE , Dual-band WiFi 802.11 ac, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS and NFC. It comes with a 4070mAh (typical) / 4000mAh (minimum) battery with Quick Charge 3.0.
The Xiaomi Mi Note 2 comes in Piano Black and Glacier Silver colors and is priced at 2799 yuan (US$ 410 / Rs. 27610 approx.) for the 4GB RAM with 64GB storage version and the 6GB RAM with 128GB storage version costs 3299 yuan (US$ 486 / Rs. 32550 approx.). The global 6GB RAM with 128GB storage version costs 3499 yuan (US$ 516 / Rs. 34,525 approx.). It will go on sale in China starting from November 1st. No word on the global roll out yet.
