Xiaomi announced the Mi MIX phablet along with Mi Note 2 today at an event in Beijing. We were live at the event and the have got our hands on the phone. Let’s take a detailed look at hardware and specs of the phone.
The Mi MIX sports a huge 6.4-inch (2040 x 1080 pixels) display with 17: 9 aspect ratio, 1300: 1 contrast ratio, 94% NTSC color gamut and 91.3% screen-to-body ratio. It is powered by 2.35GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 821 64-bit processor with Adreno 530 GPU. Running Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) with MIUI 8 on top, the phone comes with a 4GB DDR4 RAM with 128GB internal (UFS 2.0) memory / 6GB DDR4 RAM with 256GB (UFS 2.0) internal memory.
The phone has a 5MP front facing camera with at the top while three on screen touch buttons at the bottom. Instead of a standard proximity sensor it uses ultrasonic technology and uses Cantilever piezoelectric ceramic acoustic system instead of a standard earpiece, allowing you to listen to calls without the earpiece.
The right side houses power button and volume rockers.
A dual nano SIM slot is present on the left side.
A 3.5 mm audio jack and microphones are present on top.
At the bottom, the phone has a USB Type-C port with loudspeaker and microphone on either side.
At the back, the phone has a 16MP camera with dual-tone LED Flash, PDAF, f/2.0 aperture, 4K video recording. The phone has a ceramic back.
A fingerprint sensor is present below the camera module. The phone measures 158.8 x 81.9 mm x 7.9 mm and weighs 209 grams. It has a 4400mAh battery with support for Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0.
The phone has been designed by world renowned designer Philippe Starck. The Xiaomi Mi MIX comes in black color and is priced at 3499 yuan (US$ 516 / Rs. 34530 approx.) for the standard 4GB RAM with 128GB storage version and the 18k gold finish variant with 6GB RAM and 256GB storage costs 3999 yuan (US$ 590 / Rs. 39,470 approx.). It will be available in China from November 4th. No word on the global roll out yet.
