Design and build
The CATZ CZ-P850 4000mAh Power Bank has a simple design and is in rectangular shape. It has a circular cut out on the top left where the LED light is present and the CATZ branding is present on the bottom right corner. It has a smooth matte finish so that it doesn’t attract any fingerprints.
It measures 120x67mm, is just 10mm thick and weighs 118 grams so that you can carry is easily in your jean pocket.
On the top there is a full USB port that offers 5V/1A output and has a micro USB port for charging the power bank that takes 5V/1A input. Wish it had at least 5V/2A input support that is present in most power banks in the price range.
It has a unique LED indicator that glows when you shake the power bank. It glows in red color when it has 0 to 33% charge left, glows in Green when it has 33 to 66% charge left and glows in blue when the charge is between 66% and 100%. The LED indicator starts blinking when you are charging the power bank.
The LED is not powerful so you can’t use it as a flashlight, which would have been a nice addition, but then again that would drain the battery quickly.
Performance
The 4000mAh power bank doesn’t support fast charge since it has only 1A output. It also automatically recognizes the device you plug and offers ample amount of power required. Power lost during voltage conversion is a common problem in power banks. CATZ doesn’t reveal the charging conversion rate for the power bank. We were able to charge the Galaxy On8’s 3300mAh battery fully from 0%, so the conversion rate should be somewhere between 85 to 85%. The power bank doesn’t get heated even after hours of usage.
CATZ also doesn’t say how long it will take to charge. Based on our testing, it takes about 3 hours to charge the power bank fully using a 5V/1A charger. It also has intelligent protection system that prevents overcharging and short-circuit.
Conclusion
The CZ-P850 4000mAh Power Bank has a compact design to carry it in your pocket or a small bag. Priced at an MRP of Rs. 1299, it is available from online retailers, including Amazon.in for Rs. 799, which is slightly costly compared to other power banks that have a bigger battery and feature 5V/2A input and output.
